Overall, this was a good book. I liked the characters and the story, as well as how the author shined a light on "ruined women" of the Regency era, and how circumstances are a crazy thing. The only reason this lost a star is because while I knew this was a story about a vicar, I didn't like the conclusion of the plot relying on scripture from the Bible. The Pennyroyal Green series isn't inspirational, and while I think the author did a pretty good job of not crossing the line into inspirational, the story fell short for me, and probably will for the others out there who might not be religious.Still, it's definitely worth a read if you like the series. I loved the characters in this book! One of this author's best. Usually I don't like my heroines so ... Jaded, shall we say, but this heroine quickly won me over, as she eventually won over Pennyroyal Green. And I was eagerly awaiting Adam Sylvaine's story since Since the Surrender. And this has one of the most satisfying, beautiful endings I've ever read. I think I did several fist pumps and walked away with a teary-eyed grin. It was a Say Anything kind of moment, but instead of a boom box held aloft, it was the Song of Solomon. It is how every romance novel should end. With a spectacular declaration.
