I was torn between giving this book a 1star or 3 star review. It started out great and the action sequences were fantastic. However, there were significant issues with the book. One, that the heroine flipped-flopped between being a smart, funny, and capable woman to a sniveling emotional mess with a potty mouth. Not attractive. Two, the romance was crap. The relationship wasn't properly evolved and the two lovebirds quarrled about their relationship during the most inappropriate times namely in the middle of life and death situations. Sadly, this series had a lot of promise, but I will not be picking the next book up. I'm not always as crazy about sci if as I am about fantasy. It actually read as a combo of both. Again, it's the characters that interest me. They are all peculiar and fun. The lead female witty, stubborn, silly, and brave when it counts. The dialogue is fast and fun to hear in your head while reading. Plus, this book teaches you to not underestimate whatever tools you have at hand: hairspray, humongous purses, and parents on Walkie talkie (yay Google Andy!) can be made into an arsenal if you put your mind to it.
Brain candy. No nutritional value whatsoever. Perfect vacation read.
I've reread this series 3 times this year.
Very fast paced story, great fun.
