I seem to be one of the few who neither loved nor hated this book. It's decent for a debut novel, I'll give Gi that. To be honest, I read it because I love Carrie Fletcher to bits and Gi is her sister in law. The whole "celebrity-falling-in-love" thing seemed a bit too fanfiction-y at most times, and the characters very much were fanfiction-y. Sophie was definitely a Mary-Sue character and I found her "huge secret" a little bit of a let down. Don't get me started on Billy. I've never read a more unbelievable character. He either knew exactly what to say and how to act or absolutely did not - Billy had no in between, and that bothered me a lot. I liked Molly a lot, and she was definitely one of the reasons I ended up sort of enjoying this book. Gi's writing is really good, though, so I'll be happy to see what her other books are like. This was the first 'chick lit' book I've ever read, being miles away from my usual reads, and I only picked it up because I enjoy Giovanna Fletcher's YouTube channel. I have to say I enjoyed it much more than I thought I would, although not enough to encourage me to read more in the same genre. It was a nice, light-hearted read that served as a good break between my usual epic fantasy adventures. The characters were mostly pretty two-dimensional and formulaic, but it was hard not to get swept up in the story. For what it is, it's very good, exceeding my expectations spectacularly, but it did leave wanting in characters, plot and actual writing. Nevertheless, it was fun to read.

A quick and easy read with likeable characters but with a rather predictable plot!
