Decent anthology of urban fantasy.Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books...1 star... This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future.2 stars... This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.3 stars... This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick it up.4 stars... I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be on the look out to pick up more from the series/author.5 stars... I loved this book! It has earned a permanent home in my collection and I'll be picking up the rest of the series and other books from the author ASAP. 13 stories about strong women fighting in a paranormal world and the unexpected romance they find along the way. I'm currently just reading a few of the stories. I will read and review the rest as time permits. So far most of the storys rate 3-4 stars. 1. 'Shiny' by Rachel Caine. 3 stars. I think this one fits in about 3.5 because it's after Joanne was turned into a Djinn and back to a Warden again and they're still unmarried and in Fl. They run into trouble with a new Djinn, a spoiled brat named Whitney. 2. 'In Vino Veritas' DB2.1 in the 'Cassandra Palmer' world by Karen Chance. 4 stars. I have reviewed this story on its own page. 3. 'Hunt' 6.5 in the 'Shifters' series by Rachel Vincent. 4 stars. This is a fantastic series and it only does it justice to read the last little bit. This one's a enjoyable little scene with Abby Wade. She's now a college student and temporarily part of Jace' pride. During a hunting trip with friends, she discovers her courage and who she is inside. 4. 'Monsters' by Lilith Saintcrow. 4 stars. Very interesting world situation- would love to read more about Eleni, Wolf and the others. Eleni is a 'preserver' vampire, keeping her talented, immortal wards safe. Until a team of human hunter kill the wards and burn her house down. Now Eleni's out for revenge and finds a surprise enemy. 5. 'Vampires prefer Blonds' by P.N.Elrod. 2 stars. Silly little story with not much to it. Think 'blond joke' and you've got it. 6. 'Nine-Tenths of the Law' by Jenna Black. 3 stars. I have reviewed this story on its own page. 7. 'Double Dead' 5.5 in the Night tracker series by Cheyenne McCray. 3 stars. Nyx is a Tracker/Drow (dark elf) who captures and interrogates bad supes. She's captured herself by to obtain info about the location of a council meeting. 8. 'A Rose by Any Other Name Would Still Be Red' by Elizabeth A. Vaughan. 3 stars. Set in what appears to be medival England. A female warrior is sent to a slave market to enforce the Queen's law owtlawing slavery. 9. 'Superman' by Jeanne C.Stein.3 stars. San Diego. Anna Strong is the 'chosen one' a vampire who's ex-boyfriend enlists her help againist a vicious vampire whos killign inligal aliens. 10. 'Monster Mash' part of the Delilah Street series by Carole Nelson Douglas. 3 stars. I dodn't finish reading this one, but what I did had way too many odd, confusing phrases. 11. 'Wanted: Dead or Alive' by L.A. Banks. 12. 'Mist' #1 in the 'Midgard' series by Susan Krinard. 3 stars. This one I have reviewed on its own page. 13. 'Beyond the Pale' by Nancy Holder.
Some short stories are much better than others. Can't say that I was too taken with any of them.
Some stories were good, but several were rather banal.
Read Rachel Vincent's Hunt only
Only read Vincent's story.
