This is definitely a darker story and I really enjoyed it! After the events from the last part, the kids are now back in school, with their Uncle returning home and Ty making a new friend (or is he) with Zack. It started off with a murder but delved deeper into the mystery of the keys and this time with Kinsey and Tyler finally believing Bode about the house and learning more about their father's death. I absolutely hate Zack but with good reason and I'm excited to learn his reasons for everything. It was also interesting to learn about their uncles life and how he fits in the story. I can't wait to read more! I can't remember exactly what happened in each book since I binged this whole series, but I'm pretty sure this was my favorite. The introduction of the Head Key is a great showing of some of the fascinatingly imaginative concepts Joe Hill is working with. I didn't immediately fall in love with the Rodriguez art at the outset of the series but you also start seeing some more playful art here and it always does a great job of helping to set the tone, which successfully ranges from laugh-out-loud funny to legitimately frightening (ok, only for like two panels in the whole series).
Way better than the first one. Loved the art work. Definately want to continue.
I enjoyed this volume. Now I'm excited to know what the rest of the keys can do!
i think i liked the first vol more than this one
