Marvel superheroes as zombies!!! A totally absurd premise, to be sure, but the authors really came up with an interesting way to make it more plausible. We are talking about a world where magic, superpowers, and mutations exist, so how far of a stretch is the addition of zombies? The first series was a bit better, but this one had some great moments, too. The art is probably my biggest beef with the series, but the fantastic cover art (classic covers done zombie-style) makes up for a lot of that. Disappointing sequel to the hilarious dark comedy about an unstoppable, implausible zombie plague in the Marvel universe. This new story tries too hard to establish complex conflicts between characters that weren't important before and aren't interesting now, and relies on way too many arbitrary conclusions (the forcefield went up while he was inside, they're not hungry *now*, this character can beat up this character). Gone is the humorous dialogue. Gone is the spirit of creativity that made these self-conscious zombies worth reading about before.
Not as good as the first one, but still fun and gory. I've got two more on order from the library.
Great fun. A worthy follow-up. Some truly hilarious moments.
Great art, great fun (for fans of half-dead superheroes)
Good writing + zombies = How can you go wrong?
