OMG! I LOVE THIS BOOK! I couldn't put it down! Alex and Payton are perfect for each other! It was a great "Redemption" story of a single dad- HAWK!(I'm so glad we got to read his story) and the "control freak" Payton coming out of her shell. It was hilarious! It had so much heart, love, happiness and even some tears! It was hilarious! The comments Payton throws at Alex through out the first half(and even after that) were great! Funny, hilarious! I had to stop several times to catch my breath! I love how this was written in the first person story, with third person(Alex) throughout to give us a look into him, and it ends great, I still wanted it to continue but with how it was written as Payton was retelling it, it was perfect! I love how in the story we are still in Washington, and still with the same group of people Piper has been writing about, makes it so much fun! If you read this by itself, it may seem that the "drama" or "tragedy" happens out of the blue, but it really doesn't if you've read Witness, Justice and Road to Desire...definitely more of a romance than an action/adventure, but I didn't mind! still love it! I can't wait to hear more about the rest of the characters, Mack, Ash, Kim, Buzz, Jax...who knows! ;)I LOVE that all Piper's books are all linked in some way, makes it feel like real life! or a movie!!!read it twice now! LOVE IT STILL! :D (2/5/15) I received a copy of this book in exchange for a honest review.Even though it's the second installment in a series you could definitely read it as a standalone. Athough, I would encourage you to read the first book to get the background info on a few characters that are carried over into this book. This is the first MC series I've read so I don't have anything to compare it to besides shows I've watched on tv. I liked the book but I did expect a little more edginess from Hawk. I get that meeting Payton changed him but, from what we saw in the first book he was not what I expected. I would have also liked to see less of Payton's world and more of Hawk's, I feel like it would have helped develop his character a little more. Overall, I liked the book and will probably read more in the series if Piper writes more but, they will probably be added to my TBR list instead of immediately hitting the one click button.
3.5 ⭐️ it was an ok story but fell a bit short when it came to the action parts
A great read. It is a sweet romance with a few bumps along the way. rated very good
Not your typical MC book. I should re-shelve this series as Contemporary.
