Ever since I read Dead Witch Walking by Kim Harrison, I've been trying to find writers in the same vein. Along the way, I've discovered some truly wonderful {Patricia Briggs, Ilona Andrews, Kelley Armstrong, Karen Marie Moning, Jeaniene Frost...}, and some not so wonderful authors, and even authors I started out loving but lost interest in, but I found nothing like what I was searching for - until now! Kimberly Frost pulled me into Tammy Jo’s world quickly {I won and started with the 4th in the Southern Witch series} and while sweets & baking are not my thing, I get the attraction. I look forward to re-reading this when I order books 1-3 of the Southern Witch series - as soon as I win some more Amazon codes! My highest praise for an author is that I'll order their earlier works & I just ordered & look forward to reading All That Bleeds (A Novel of the Etherlin) & All That Falls (A Novel of the Etherlin)I expect Kimberly Frost to be in my *have to* read column, just like the authors I mentioned above! This book was fun and magical and everything you would wish for in the next steps in a series. The plot escalates to capture your imagination and increase your belief in the paranormal characters. There are a lot of quirky little side trips that are icing on the cake rather than distracting. The author successfully weaves in new characters with the familiar to advance the story line as well as inform the new reader. If you haven't read the first three books they will be added to your to read shelf guaranteed.
Finding that I am really not a fan of "southern" generally speaking
