The book explores a bunch of topics a bit too plebeian for my taste, but makes up for that by including a brilliant discussion on human altruism. Unfortunately, the discourse kind of falls apart at the end of the book, where the authors attempt to deal with climate change. Against the set precedent, the authors rely on an alarming lack of data to misrepresent the global warming debate and dabble in overwrought machinations to combat the problem. I really enjoyed Freakonomics, so figured this one sitting on my in-laws guest room nightstand would be pretty good too. Sadly, no. This seems to have been thrown together pretty carelessly. Not only were the economics less compelling and cohesive this time around, but it was full of the kind of insensitive, crass, corny, cringe-worthy jokes that sure, you might make to each other while you're brainstorming a book, but you don't actually publish! Just ew.

Not quite as good as the original, but still good. The epilogue was probably the best part.
