I enjoyed the second book in the series as much as the first. I like how the author weaves the history of a fictional country with actual history. I enjoyed getting to know each of the characters more, and seeing them start to grow up and come into their own. I liked that Sophie became a stronger character, and I'm looking forward to seeing what happens in the third book since it left off with everything about to happen. Much like the FitzOsbornes themselves, I kind of missed Montmaray in this book. But it was hard to miss it too much when there's so much going on-house parties, balls, assassins, Nazis, and feminism (There's one moment in particular that had me cheering-go Sophie!). Once again, Michelle Cooper has blended fact with fiction so well that you'll be amazed to realize that Montmaray isn't real. I'm very excited (and nervous) to read The FitzOsbornes at War.

The series gets better--although I wish they were still on the island, this is an engrossing read.
