A modern variation of P&P.. and there is sex here, so if you don't like that in your variations now you know.In this story, the Elizabeth Bennet character is a hard-core Democrat, and Mr Darcy comes from a powerful Republican family.. there might have been 1 star awarded for that angle alone! :-)Otherwise, I enjoyed that this story seemed 'real'-- there were some less than 'suitable' events that happened (just like in real life), and I felt that it was done pretty well. I enjoyed this modern story based on Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy in Pride and Prejudice, particularly during the first half. However, I felt like the story lost momentum in the middle and end. I was annoyed, and found myself skipping parts of the story, particularly the reading of Calder's book, which basically re-told details of the storyline that had already been mentioned previously in the book. I understand that the author's point was to show the past occurences between Cassie and Calder from Calder's viewpoint in his novel. Even so, it was repetitive, and I felt like Calder's love for Cassie was already understood by the readers, which made the book re-telling unnecessary, and only necessary to correct Cassie's misunderstanding. I did enjoy Abigail Reynold's description of the marine biology field, and found it a bit refreshing to read a modern tale of my most beloved couple. I adore Ms. Reynold's historical romances between Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy, and highly recommend her books. She is one of my all-time favorite authors of Pride and Prejudice re-tellings, and I would not hesitate recommending any of her books to P&P fans, particularly the historical versions!

modern romance that wasn't too annoying like most. Some holes in the plot, but generally enjoyable.
