Wow this book is like being on a roller coaster. I had so many different emotions while reading this story. I cried so much in the first 50%.We start off in present day as David starts telling his story to his partner Jack. We go back to the time David was Danny.....Danny/David is a 16 year old child thrown out because he was gay, he has no one and ends up on the streets. He doesn't trust easily, by the time he is 18 he is unwell because of the cold weather, never been warm and underfed. He go to a homeless centre regularly to help out. This story is heart wrenching, more so because it could be a true story. His story isn't something new this happens all over the world, in real life. Parents hear the word Gay and either things carry on as normal or they react by throwing the child on the streets. I think the author did a fantastic job of making this story feel real.Overall a great read, with lots of twists and turns.... Don't forget you will a box tissues.... I really enjoyed this, reading it while drinking coffee and doing laundry and finishing before doing much else during the day.Danny's tale is harrowing, and unfortunately all too probable, and while it does end on a happy note, it is obvious that happiness is still tenuous in the MC's opinion. Tales of trust betrayed and the desire never to trust so you can never be hurt again always get to me, but this seemed a better than most. If you like painful coming out stories that have a HEA, then you will probably like this. I actually think it would make a decent movie, with minimal plot changes, so the characters shine.
