I continue to enjoy The Unwritten although some volumes I enjoy immensely and others only somewhat. I was disappointed to read that the writers have apparently decided to continue the series despite earlier stated intentions to wrap it up. It's a shame, because serials - whether television shows, movie franchises, or books - tend to develop a habit of overstaying their welcome. Put a bow on this thing and kiss it good night. The Ship That Sank Twice is the origin story of both Tom and Tommy Taylor from the comic series The Unwritten and if that has left you confused please stop reading this review and check out the series as it is an excellent adventure for a number of different reasons. This was a great add on to The Unwritten series which helped to properly explain the one big question mark that I've had about this series, How is Tom connected to these fictional worlds? Sure, the series explains it some but this extra does it in a linear fashion and all together which makes it easier to follow. I'm not having to go back and find an earlier issue/trade to remember what has happened before.I remember reading somewhere that this is an excellent starting point for people who are looking to jump into this series. I guess that it could be but if I hadn't read the rest of the series before jumping into this I think I would have been confused about why it was jumping between some old mans journal and a fantasy world very similar to Harry Potter. This a great addition to a series I love which is coming to a close. It provides a great addition and helps to lesson some of the confusion the original series creates and is a must for any lover of The Unwritten.

I know that the Harry Potter meta-parallels are the entire point, but they were too on the nose.

Reminds me why I love this series so much. Great prequel to a great series.
