I had a bit of a "meh" moment around Volumes 5 and 6, but number 7 and this one have completely redeemed themselves for me. I still have to get to No. 9, which only came out a week or so ago, to see how the story line wraps up (I think that's the last of this series), but right now I recommend this to anyone who has read a lot of books and believes in the power of story. This is definitely a book-lover's comic. But be forewarned of plenty of blood and gore in every episode. I've just finished a binge catch-up of The Unwritten. I maintain that this series is one of the headiest ones out there right now and one of the series that is likely to be cited in the future as fitting in the same mold of other landmark series like Sandman, Y: The Last Man, etc. My only concern is that, after 8 volumes, the story either needs to be coming to a head or starting to set up the final conclusion. The end of volume eight is unclear. In other words, the story is at a tipping point where all the high-faluten' concepts behind this series either gel or come off the rails.
